15-Minute Activity #2: Give People a Reason to Visit This Week

Last Updated 9/16/2026

A great menu and friendly service give people reasons to like your business. Sometimes they still need a specific reason to visit right now.

That reason could be a special, event, food-truck stop, tasting, class, themed night, seasonal promotion, or limited-time offer.

The goal is not to create a complicated campaign. Choose one timely opportunity, make the details easy to understand, and invite people to participate.

1. Start Here

What is happening this week that customers would want to know about?

Your promotion should answer that question quickly. It should help someone understand what is happening, why it is worth their time, and what they need to do next.

Your biggest opportunity: Give people one clear, timely reason to choose your business this week.

You only need:

  • One special, event, offer, or experience

  • The date, time, and location

  • A clear description of what people can expect

  • Any price, reservation, or availability details

  • One useful photo

  • A clear next step

In 15 focused minutes, you can capture the essential details and build the first useful version of your promotion.

2. Observe and Capture

Observe

Look for one timely reason people should visit.

It might be:

  • A daily or weekly special

  • Live music or another upcoming event

  • A food-truck stop or pop-up

  • A tasting, class, or demonstration

  • A themed night

  • A seasonal promotion

  • A limited-time menu item or offer

  • A visiting performer, vendor, or community partner

Choose one thing that is specific enough for someone to understand and act on.

Capture

Before you start writing, preserve the details people need to make a decision.

Capture:

  • What is happening?

  • Who is it for?

  • When does it happen?

  • Where does it happen?

  • What will people get, experience, taste, hear, or learn?

  • Is there a price, reservation, deadline, or availability limit?

  • Why is this worth doing now?

  • What should someone do next?

  • Is there a partner, performer, vendor, or organization to recognize?

  • What photo will help someone picture the experience?

Do not make customers search through several posts or pages to find the basics. A useful promotion reduces uncertainty.

3. See an Example

Here is a composite example for a restaurant hosting a Friday food-truck pop-up.

The opportunity

Families and friends are looking for an easy way to start the weekend. The restaurant is hosting a local food truck on its patio and offering a limited drink special.

The captured details

  • What: Friday Patio Pop-Up

  • When: Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

  • Where: The restaurant patio

  • Experience: Food-truck favorites, patio seating, and a limited drink special

  • Availability: Walk-ins are welcome while supplies last

  • Partner: A locally owned food truck

  • Next step: Invite friends and arrive early

The finished promotion

Friday Patio Pop-Up: Food-Truck Favorites and an Easy Start to the Weekend

Looking for an easy Friday night plan?

Join us on the patio this Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. for a pop-up with one of our favorite local food trucks. Grab dinner, enjoy our limited Friday drink special, and settle in with friends or family.

Walk-ins are welcome while supplies last. Invite someone who needs a Friday night plan and arrive early.

The customer remains the hero. They are looking for an easy, enjoyable experience. The business and food-truck partner make that experience possible.

4. Recognize and Amplify

Recognize

Turn the captured details into a clear invitation and publish the complete promotion on your website.

If it is an event, add it to your website calendar. If it is a special or limited-time offer, publish it as a short blog post, announcement, or featured update.

Use a title that names the reason to visit.

Examples include:

  • Friday Patio Pop-Up with Local Food-Truck Favorites

  • Taco Tuesday Special Available This Week

  • Join Us for Live Music on Saturday Night

  • Fall Tasting Menu Available for a Limited Time

  • Family Trivia Night Returns This Thursday

Include the essential details in the page title, description, and body whenever practical. Add one clear photo and link to any reservation, ordering, event, or contact page someone needs.

Recognize any participating performer, vendor, business, or community partner. Confirm names, links, tags, and photo permission before publishing.

Amplify

Once the complete promotion has a reliable home, help it travel while it is still timely.

Share it through:

  • Your email newsletter

  • Social media

  • In-store signs or table cards

  • Staff recommendations

  • Direct replies to customers

  • Participating performers, vendors, and partners

  • Local event calendars

  • Local Connections

Link people back to the complete promotion so they can find accurate details in one place.

After the promotion or event, capture one photo, comment, or memorable detail. Use it to thank participants, recognize partners, and help promote the next opportunity.

5. Get Going

Choose one reason for people to visit this week.

Do not start with a full promotional calendar. Complete one useful cycle:

  1. Choose one timely opportunity.

  2. Capture the essential details.

  3. Build a clear invitation.

  4. Publish it on your website.

  5. Help it travel.

Use the 15-Minute Visit Promotion Worksheet while the details are fresh. It gives you a block-by-block way to choose the opportunity, capture what matters, build the promotion, and decide where to share it.

Give people one clear reason to visit. Then notice what worked, capture the experience, and do it again.
